On Tuesday, Aceto Corp., a distributor of chemicals and generic drugs, declared its need to redo animal testing for its vaccine program for companion animals.
The company pointed out the misunderstanding between the company with the U.S. Department of Agriculture regarding the testing protocol. The testing will have to be redone under a revised protocol. There will also be a requisite field safety test that will need to be completed.
The Chairman,Chief Executive and President of Aceto in person of Leonard S. Schwartz said in a release that in spite of the protocol approval error, the USDA accepted that the testing that had been completed indicated the vaccine was effective.
The application is the first time the USDA has been asked to endorse a foreign-produced vaccine for companion animals in the United States, so the department has been extremely careful throughout the process.
