Bavarian Nordic, the Danish pharmaceutical group, has just made it known that it has received an order for 20 million doses IMVAMUNE, its small pox vaccine from the US Department of Health and Human Services.

The group’s estimation of the value of the order was placed at 3 billion Danish Krone.

According to Bavarian Nordic, though the principal terms of the agreement have been reached, the contract is currently being finalized.

About Bavarian Nordic

Bavarian Nordic A/S is a leading international biopharmaceutical company developing, producing and marketing innovative vaccines to prevent and treat infectious diseases (smallpox and HIV), and cancer.

Bavarian Nordic has its headquarters in Denmark but its operations spread into Germany, the USA and Singapore.

Bavarian Nordic is one of the few companies in the world able to supply the growing demand for smallpox vaccines, particularly safe smallpox vaccines. With a global manufacturing capacity consisting of its new state-of-the-art production facility in Denmark (minimum capacity of 40 million doses per year that can be expanded to 180 million doses per year), and an ongoing partnership with the German vaccine producer, Impfstoffwerk Dessau-Tornau (IDT), Bavarian Nordic has ensured supply of its current and future vaccines.
